Announcing CRJ and EPS partnership 

The Emergency Planning Society and the Crisis Response Journal are delighted to announce that they will be working in partnership to further the authoritative and vital voice of the profession, both in the UK and further afield.

“Put simply, emergency planning and management are basic, good organisational practice, whether at national and local government levels, in the corporate and business world, the emergency services or the third sector,” says Emily Hough, Editor in Chief of the Crisis Response Journal (CRJ). Unfortunately, sometimes this vital experience can be overlooked or its advice is unheeded.”

She continues: “The Covid-19 pandemic has laid bare the grave dangers of failure to understand the true systemic nature of risk and the potential cascading consequences that can spread much, much further than the initial crisis. The cost in terms of lives and economies has been immense.

“By working in partnership with the Emergency Planning Society (EPS), we will be seeking to work together to amplify the voice of the emergency planning sector, providing the leadership, professionalism, experience and insights that are so crucial in terms of protecting people, their lives, communities, livelihoods, economies and overall national resilience.

“This continuing pandemic is not the only crisis that is looming on the horizon. Covid-19 has revealed societal divisions, vulnerabilities and chasms in preparedness and response. We are delighted to be working with the EPS in order to remedy this situation into the future, and the team is looking forward to working with the Society and developing our shared agenda.”

The two organisations will be working together to build on a coherent, collaborative and co-ordinated vision and voice in emergency planning. They will do this through publishing thought leadership, sharing knowledge, webinars, interviews, podcasts, events, articles, and many more initiatives.

EPS Chair Jacqui Semple adds: “This is an exciting opportunity to highlight the vital role of resilience and emergency planning professionals across the UK and beyond. We’re delighted to be working alongside the CRJ in this venture and to offer EPS Members the additional benefits this partnership brings for them.”

Within this partnership, all Members of the EPS will have full digital access to the journal and its 16 years of archived content, joining the CRJ’s global, multidisciplinary community of readers, authors and experts, and being invited to share their experience and knowledge with their peers around the world.
