Albrecht Beck
Dr Albrecht Beck is the Director of the expert consultancy, Prepared International (PPI). In his role, he has implemented more than 25 large-scale international emergency preparedness projects. He is also a member of the Crisis Response Journal Advisory Panel and a Civil Expert of NATO for Population Movements.
Previously, he has held positions in the UN System such as the Global CCCM Civil Protection Specialist in the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and disaster management and disaster preparedness expert for North Africa, Middle East, Caucasus and Central Asia in UN-OCHA.
As an expert for DRR in conflict and fragility, he successfully implemented the “Professional
Dialogue between Jordan, Israel and Palestine” on emergency preparedness and lifesaving. In his different roles, Albrecht has supported emergency management organisations in more than 80 countries. He deploys regularly with the UNDAC system to mass disaster events, and has, for example, led the International Disaster Management Co-ordination in Sindhupalchok, in the Nepal Earthquake 2015 or been the On-Site Operations Co-ordination Centre (OSOCC) Manager in the Serbia Floods 2014.
