Patrick Trancu

Patrick TrancuPatrick holds a degree in Political Science and History from Tufts University, USA. He began his career in 1987 working in corporate communications at TT&A srl, a public relations agency founded by his father in 1963, where he immediately started working with multinational clients.

From the late 1990s, he developed extensive experience in crisis management, covering all aspects of the discipline. In 2001, he managed crisis communication on behalf of SAS Scandinavian Airlines following the tragic Linate airport accident on October 8 that claimed the lives of 118 people.

Since then, he has handled numerous crisis situations for clients across industries. In 2017 he founded TT&A Advisors, based in Lugano Switzerland, focusing exclusively on crisis preparedness, management, and recovery. The firm offers crisis management consulting and training services for decision-makers and boards of directors at private and public companies covering all phases of the crisis cycle. The goal is to strengthen corporate resilience and response capabilities when faced with unexpected critical events, enabling clients to deliver 'adequate, responsible, and ethical' responses in times of crisis. He believes that building a 'crisis-aware culture' is essential today and must start from corporate governance and the integration of risk management, business continuity, security, and crisis management.

A standing member of several corporate Crisis Management Teams and a TEDx speaker in 2020, he co-edited and co-authored the book Lo Stato in Crisi. Pandemia, caos e domande per il futuro, a multidisciplinary analysis of how the Italian Governments handled the first phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. He is also among the co-authors of Investigazioni interne.

In 2021, he conducted crisis management and communication training seminars for the Italian Prime Minister’s Office. In 2022, he was appointed by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) to a working group tasked with drafting the regulation 'Preparation and management of the assistance plan for air accident victims and their families' TT&A Advisors, Via Nassa 38, 6900 Lugano, Svizzera (published June 6, 2023) and the related guidelines 2023/004-APT 'Guidelines and best practices for preparing and managing assistance plans for air accident victims and their families in airport contexts' (published October 8, 2023).

His current clients in crisis preparedness include companies in the chemical, transportation, and airport management sectors. He has attended IATA seminars on crisis communication, the 'Navigating the Storm' crisis management course organised by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy in 2019, and holds a CBCI certification in business continuity from the Business Continuity Institute, London. Patrick Trancu is regularly invited as a speaker by universities, associations, and companies to discuss crisis management. He writes on crisis management topics on his blog www.tta-advisors.com and on LinkedIn.
