Emergency Planning Society Annual Conference 

Resilience professionals from across the UK and beyond are set to gather for two days of learning and discussion at a fascinating educational conference being held later this year.

The Emergency Planning Society, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is hosting the event called ‘A Journey of Adaptability' Celebrating 30 years of emergency planning and resilience in Manchester in November. The conference is open to members and non-members.

The Society is the UK’s largest professional body, representing people working in resilience, disaster management, and emergency planning and response. Its members include those working in roles across local and national government, corporate or commercial organisations, emergency services and response, the third sector, the military, academia, education, and others.

Some of the world’s leading speakers on disaster management, emergency planning, and resilience are included in the event’s extensive programme.

They include keynote speakers Major General Tim Hodgetts CB CBE KHS OStJ DL Surgeon General of the UK Armed Forces, Mary Jones, who is Head of Resilience at the Resilience Directorate at the Cabinet Office and who will present on ‘Delivering the UK Government’s Resilience Framework’. She will be joined by Dr Stuart Andrews and Dr Patrick Duggan who will explore ‘Enhancing creative practices of emergency planning’.

They will be joined by a host of other leading speakers who will tackle a range of subjects, including human aspects, communications, whole-society resilience, developing emergency managers, community resilience and capability, climate resilience, and responders.

The event will also feature a celebratory awards ceremony, dinner, and dance held to mark the EPS’ 30th anniversary on November 7.
